Your Heart's Desire by Melody Carlson Blog Tour with Review

Bestselling author Melody Carlson captures hearts with a beautifully written romance set just after World War II.

It's almost New Year's 1946, a perfect time for Caroline Marshall to start a new chapter in her life. Widowed three years ago when she lost her husband in the war, she has decided to move with her nine-year-old son to join her sister's family in sunny California. Her sister's new house has a basement apartment for Caroline to rent, and though jobs for women are scarce with so many veterans returning from the war, it seems the local chocolate factory is hiring. The apartment turns out to be rather dingy, and the job may be working the assembly line--a step down from Caroline's office job as a secretary back in Minnesota. But Caroline is determined to make a great new life for herself and her son. As she goes about making that happen, she keeps running into a handsome stranger--at the diner, at church, and he even works for M.G. Chocolates. With a New Year, a new home, and a new job, is Caroline ready to find new love?

Goodreads Summary

This book is filled with World War 2 nostalgia and a great story to back it up. Caroline Marshall is left without her husband just after the end of the second World War and needs to pick it up if she wants to provide a good life for her and her son. When she decides to move to California to start a new life and job, she finds some new and unexpected things that can really change her life.

I like how the author does such a great job at showing the difficulties that people faced in the post war era of the mid-late 40's in America. It gives you that warm feeling from a time where chivalry hasn't died yet and the family unit is still a valued asset in society. Caroline is a good soul that is able to make the best out of an undesirable situation and thrive even being a recent widow of a war hero. Another thing that I really enjoyed was the author's development of Caroline as a character. It was nice to see her find herself, develop a little confidence, become independent, and find herself a new love. The rest is for you to explore in this pleasantly fun and surprising romance.

  1. The cover wouldn't grab me on its own, but the story sounds good. IT sounds like an emotional, and heartwarming story!
