Goodreads Summary

Nikki was a normal teenager until she was attacked at random and saved by a man she didn't know.  When three young men show up at random and attend her school, she doesn't know quite what to make of it, but she knows that one of them was connected to the day she was attacked.   Nikki expects that there might be something fishy going on, but she doesn't know the half of it.  She discovers fairly early on in the novel that the three men are Halflings...and they were sent to protect her.

Nikki's character was fun and easy to connect to.  She has a somewhat cautious, but welcoming exterior.  The three boys are terrific to read about.  They literally act like family...with all of the antics that goes along with that quality.  The reader will not know which one to root for as a love interest and which one he/she likes best and would rather hoard for him/herself.  Nikki's best friend can be sassy and a little on the pushy side, but the reader will appreciate her devotion to Nikki.

The plot was fast-paced.  The reader did not have to wait long to discover the true mystery in the book.  The events were richly detailed and easy to follow.  The author's lyrical way of writing will likely appeal to the reader.  Although the point of view from which the story is told switches around from character to character, the characters are easy to get to know and enjoy.  This book is recommended to young adult/teen readers.
