Wednesday, November 23, 2011
At age 55, Maggie is losing the battle with her fear of failure and small designer dogs, but her friend, Cher, is determined to rescue her from a future of scrapbooking and lace doilies.

Bear has a secret worth killing for, so when an archaeology student stumbles too close to his hidden goldmine, the results range from comical to deadly.

In a small South Carolina town, a secret from Cher's past entangles the girls in a murder investigation, in which they learn that the first step to surviving a mid-life crisis is: don't die.

Goodreads Summary

Maggie and Cher are not the most likely of friends, but they make for an entertaining story together.  They lead a fairly normal lifestyle, they may even consider their lives boring, but with this latest mystery, they now have an exciting new find to consider.  The two decide to try to figure out the mystery, much to the readers' enjoyment.  Their dialogue will keep the reader entertained as he/she navigates this novel.

The whodunit portion of the novel is just as interesting as the tight friendship between the two women.  Their close relationship is endearing and enviable.  The bumbling criminal will have the reader shaking his/her head.  This mystery is not really that easy to guess at the beginning of the novel.  There will be some surprises and twists in store for the reader.

The writer's style of writing makes this book an easy and quick read.  The reader will love the way humor is so cleverly infused into the dialogue.  The action is fairly fast-paced, the ending is perfect.  The reader will have a hard time forgetting Cher and Maggie.  This book is recommended to adult readers.
