Russian Roulette : Mike Faricy

Tuesday, June 14, 2011
At no surprise, dysfuntional PI Devlin Haskell falls in bed with his latest client. She's gone by the time he wakes and hasn't the foggiest notion that, from now on, he'll be dealing with the Russian mob. Along the way he finds himself at odds with a Russian butcher, local police and an FBI task force investigating human trafficking. In the process of getting answers Dev washes up on the far side of the law. He's shot, beaten, car bombed and used as a human shield, all in the name of justice, at least as he comes to see it. An entertaining tale of rank ineptitude and one night stands. Russian Roulette is another fast paced tale from the master of the bizarre, Mike Faricy.

Good Reads Summary

This novel manages to infuse humor with mystery, an unusual trait with mystery novels.  The reader, however, will enjoy the book more so because of this quality.  The main character is not necessarily immediately loved or even liked by the reader; however, in this mystery the likability of the main character really isn't necessary.  The reader will be continually surprised by the changes of events and the shocking conclusions drawn by the main character.  The secondary characters are no less entertaining and intriguing.  Mike Faricy has the unique ability to transform the bizarre to a real concept that the reader can understand and identify with-a quality integral to the success of this novel.  The conclusion is no less shocking than the majority of the book, but the reader will be satisfied.  This novel is terrific for young adults/adults who like a little dose of humor in their mystery.  How would you like to read a novel combining the bizarre, humor, and mystery?
